Consumer Battery Packaging
Process Description
This custom automation system receives trays of zinc-air batteries, accommodating three varieties of sizes. A tray handling system conveys the battery trays into the automation cell, where SCARA Robots pick and place the battery into a test station. The batteries that pass the in-process quality check, are transferred to a buffer dial to be loaded into the shelf-ready packaging at a different point in the system. The main transfer chassis of the system is an asynchronous power and free palleted system, that transports the packaging fixture through the automated component load stations. Batteries are loaded to the packaging array via High-Speed Delta Robots. The front blister packs are loaded to the packaging and heat sealed via a custom 12-UP system. The finished packaging is inspected for part presence and collated for loading into the primary packaging.
